Olive Price in Guatemala (FOB) - 2022

The average olive export price stood at $464 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The export price peaked at $568 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nicaragua ($500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Honduras stood at $381 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Honduras (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Olive Price in Guatemala (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average olive import price amounted to $4,793 per ton, which is down by -16.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a abrupt contraction. The import price peaked at $23,250 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

From 2015 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -11.8% per year.

Olive Exports in Guatemala

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of olives, when their volume increased by 140% to 4.2 tons. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant contraction.

In value terms, olive exports surged to $1.9K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback.

Olive Imports in Guatemala

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of olives decreased by -8.3% to 615 kg in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 297% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 671 kg, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, olive imports dropped dramatically to $2.9K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2020 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.7% over the last two-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.8K, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
