Oat Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average oat import price stood at $234 per ton in 2022, reducing by -12.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 332%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,117 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($325 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia totaled $76 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+82.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oat Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
The average oat export price stood at $1,101 per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 683%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,621 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Libya ($318 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($318 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($318 per ton) and Tunisia ($318 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2014 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Oat Imports in Egypt
For the fourth year in a row, Egypt recorded growth in purchases abroad of oats, which increased by 9.7% to 109 tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 286%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
