Molybdenum; Wire Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022

The average molybdenum; wire export price stood at $3,939 per ton in 2022, declining by -17.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $11,897 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($41,863 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,509 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average molybdenum; wire import price amounted to $79,889 per ton, surging by 4.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 35%. The import price peaked at $112,417 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($317,297 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($15,069 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Molybdenum; Wire Exports in Thailand

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of molybdenum; wires decreased by -22.5% to 49 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 205%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 63 tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, molybdenum; wire exports shrank significantly to $194K in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year.
