Millet Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average millet import price amounted to $503 per ton, rising by 25% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $515 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Russia ($509 per ton) and Ukraine ($509 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($494 per ton) and the United States ($500 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Millet Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average millet export price stood at $341 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,240 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($386 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) amounted to $331 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (-5.0%).
Millet Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of millet, when their volume decreased by -31.8% to 1.6K tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 2.3K tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, millet imports declined to $806K in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 143%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $947K, and then shrank in the following year.

Millet Exports in Vietnam
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of millet decreased by -73.4% to 183 tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 65%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 687 tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, millet exports fell significantly to $62K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $232K, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
