Millet Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average millet import price amounted to $885 per ton, growing by 3.1% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $921 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($2,044 per ton), while the price for the United States ($621 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Millet Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average millet export price amounted to $422 per ton, dropping by -16.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 32% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $563 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($840 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($333 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Millet Imports in Canada
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of millet decreased by -33.5% to 13K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year.
