Millet Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023
The average millet export price stood at $685 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 8.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $692 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($1,006 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($613 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Millet Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average millet import price amounted to $385 per ton, declining by -5.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 36% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $577 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($733 per ton), while the price for Ukraine totaled $375 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Millet Exports in Bulgaria
In 2022, shipments abroad of millet decreased by -54.1% to 2.1K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 354% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 4.5K tons, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, millet exports fell significantly to $1.2M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 355%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2.1M, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
