Lentil Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
The average lentil import price stood at $1,404 per ton in September 2022, which is down by -20.7% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated slight growth from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, lentil import price decreased by -33.5% against July 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 36% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,111 per ton. From August 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($4,653 per ton), while the price for Australia ($1,128 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average lentil export price amounted to $1,527 per ton, falling by -15.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lentil export price increased by +51.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,811 per ton, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($1,859 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($1,192 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Imports in Singapore
For the fourth consecutive year, Singapore recorded growth in supplies from abroad of lentils, which increased by 24% to 5.1K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lentil imports amounted to $4.7M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Lentil Exports in Singapore
