Lentil Price in Iran (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average lentil import price amounted to $735 per ton, waning by -15.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,177 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($745 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($664 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Price in Iran (FOB) - 2022
The average lentil export price stood at $789 per ton in 2022, picking up by 4.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 103% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,720 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($1,210 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($142 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Lentil Imports in Iran
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of lentils increased by 20% to 48K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment.

Lentil Exports in Iran
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of lentils, when their volume decreased by -39.7% to 379 tons. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 327% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 629 tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, lentil exports shrank sharply to $299K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 290% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $476K, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
