Honey Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
The average honey export price stood at $4,993 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -16.7% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 41% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5,991 per ton in July 2023, and then plummeted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($12,881 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($2,737 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Honey Price in Greece (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average honey import price amounted to $2,281 per ton, surging by 2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $3,629 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($3,674 per ton), while the price for China ($1,669 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
