Fibreboard Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average fibreboard export price amounted to $324 per cubic meter, waning by -15.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $448 per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belarus ($385 per cubic meter) and Kazakhstan ($378 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($278 per cubic meter) and Uzbekistan ($280 per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average fibreboard import price stood at $566 per cubic meter in 2022, picking up by 5.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 24%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($960 per cubic meter), while the price for Poland ($371 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fibreboard Exports in Russia
In 2022, the amount of fibreboard exported from Russia skyrocketed to 1.5M cubic meters, rising by 16% on 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fibreboard exports fell to $471M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +47.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 50%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $480M, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Fibreboard Imports in Russia

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 523K cubic meters, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, fibreboard imports shrank to $273M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $280M, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
