Commercial Printing Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average commercial printing import price amounted to $5,342 per ton, declining by -11.5% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, commercial printing import price increased by +30.4% against March 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 108% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $7,754 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($19,238 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,663 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, commercial printing export price increased by +70.5% against November 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous month. The export price peaked in June 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($18,193 per ton), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($4,462 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Imports in Belgium

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books) decreased by -25.6% to 155K tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 10% against the previous year.

In value terms, commercial printing imports shrank remarkably to $751M in 2022.
