The average artificial graphite import price stood at $2,169 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 98% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep contraction. The import price peaked at $5,162 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,795 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Artificial Graphite Imports in Pakistan

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of artificial graphite, when their volume decreased by -59.5% to 422 tons. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 309% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1K tons, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, artificial graphite imports fell remarkably to $916K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 191%.
