Artificial Graphite Price in India (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average artificial graphite import price amounted to $1,279 per ton, increasing by 4.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 22% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,598 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,952 per ton), while the price for China ($1,009 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Artificial Graphite Price in India (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average artificial graphite export price amounted to $2,808 per ton, declining by -17.1% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, artificial graphite export price increased by +56.3% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,387 per ton, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($12,786 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iran ($459 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+21.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Artificial graphite imports into India skyrocketed to 45K tons in 2022, surging by 42% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, artificial graphite imports soared to $64M in 2022. In general, imports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, artificial graphite exports surged to $20M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
