Apple Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average apple import price amounted to $1,152 per ton, rising by 9.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,210 per ton in January 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to December 2021.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,919 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($973 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
The average apple export price stood at $1,103 per ton in December 2021, rising by 8.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2021 when the average export price increased by 31% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,248 per ton in February 2021; however, from March 2021 to December 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($4,267 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($620 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+15.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Imports in Malaysia
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of apples decreased by less than 0.1% to 106K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 0.4% against the previous year.
In value terms, apple imports shrank to $117M in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 6.7%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $121M, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Apple Exports in Malaysia
Apple exports from Malaysia declined markedly to 1.6K tons in 2022, falling by -30.6% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 158%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2.3K tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, apple exports shrank notably to $1.8M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 114%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.4M, and then fell significantly in the following year.
