Germany Motor Vehicle Engine Exports
Motor vehicle engine exports from Germany reduced sharply to 59K units in October 2023, shrinking by -40.6% on the month before. In general, exports showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when exports increased by 56% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 145K units in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, motor vehicle engine exports declined to $358M (IndexBox estimates) in October 2023. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 with an increase of 53% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 534M units in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

From October 2022 to October 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of engines totaled -4.7%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: engines; reciprocating piston engines, of a kind used for the propulsion of vehicles of chapter 87, of a cylinder capacity exceeding 250cc but not exceeding 1000cc (-24.4% per month) and engines; reciprocating piston engines, of a kind used for the propulsion of vehicles of chapter 87, of a cylinder capacity exceeding 50cc but not exceeding 250cc (-12.4% per month).
In value terms, engines ($356M) remains the largest type of motor vehicle engine exported from Germany, comprising 100% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by engines; reciprocating piston engines, of a kind used for the propulsion of vehicles of chapter 87, of a cylinder capacity exceeding 250cc but not exceeding 1000cc ($1.3M), with a 0.4% share of total exports. It was followed by engines; reciprocating piston engines, of a kind used for the propulsion of vehicles of chapter 87, of a cylinder capacity exceeding 50cc but not exceeding 250cc, with less than 0.1% share.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of engines totaled -1.0%. Export Prices by Country
In October 2023, the motor vehicle engine price stood at $6,047 per unit (FOB, Germany), growing by 51% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated measured growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% over the last twelve months.
